User Experience Design

CityQuest— A Scavenger Hunt App

InVision Prototype
Problem Statement

Scavenger hunt apps aren’t providing convenience and accessibility to their hunts. Our user research shows that competitors don't have many pre-made hunts that are local and customizable, which is isolating a large demographic of potential users who are interested in socializing and ‘adventuring’ with friends. How can we improve upon our competitors and become more successful based on:
  • social connectedness through the game
  • short lead-time into starting an actual hunt
  • increased interconnectivity between current GPS-based apps which will help create ‘foundation’ scavenger hunts which can be easily customized.

StarCards—A Flashcard App

Prott Prototype
StarCards is an app that helps students and life learners of all ages learn, memorize, and practice vocabulary. StarCards makes vocabulary learning easy by providing a variety of games and learning methods, including the ability to play certain vocabulary games with classmates and friends.

Problem Statement

While some flash card apps on the market are easy to use and have fun games and social networks, barely any provide features that allow the user to easily create vocabulary sets from scratch. Using a phone to type in over 20 words and definitions is enough to discourage a user from using the app at all. Searching for decent vocabulary lists is difficult as well, since their is no rating system for existing lists, which can be made by anyone.
